Description
Here is a nice, clean all original condition vintage Rolex Datejust reference 1625 also known as a “Thunderbird”. The Thunderbird moniker comes from the bezel, which is a bi-directional count-up timing device. On these vintage Datejusts, the Thunderbird bezel is rare. Of course, the condition of the bezel means everything and the fine engraving and numerals in relief on this watch are in great shape.
The stainless steel case on this watch is in mint condition. Crystal is acrylic. The screw down crown is operating fine. The bezel is in mint condition as well.
The gray pie-pan dial is original and untouched. The gray dial color is very unusual and looks great. Applied hour markers. Original hands. Date at 3 o’clock. The dial has a radial brush finish.
Original automatic winding Rolex Caliber 1570 with 26 jewels and adjusted to temperature and in 5 positions. This movement is a C.O.S.C. Certified Chronometer and is in perfect condition and running fine.
Serial number 1901XXX dates production to 1967. Inside case back has date code of ‘IV.68’ showing that this watch left the factory in the last quarter of 1968.
Strap is black ostrich leather with authentic Rolex buckle.
