Description
Yes, this is a collectable Calatrava with massive screw back and center seconds. More importantly, whether you’re a collector or not, this is a really nice solid gold wristwatch and despite being vintage, or perhaps moreso, this is a beautiful daily wear timepiece. Patek manufactured this watch in 1950.
Original solid 18k gold case measures 35mm diameter by 12.5mm thick. Crystal is high domed acrylic. The massive gold screw down case back was Patek’s early and effective measure against moisture intrusion. This watch also has a soft metal inner movement cover. Lugs are squared and slope down. This reference 2483 has more angular and sculpted lugs than other Calatravas from this period.
Original untouched champagne dial with really attractive patina, applied golden hour markers, minutes and seconds chapter, sweet golden original dauphine hands and blued sweep seconds hand.
Original movement is the manual winding Patek Philippe Caliber 27 SC with 18 jewels, swan neck regulator, and adjusted to heat, cold, isochronism and in five positions. Movement is stamped with the Geneva Seal. Movement is immaculate.
