Description
This Rolex pre-Daytona chronograph with reference number 6234 is just startlingly nice. The condition is perfectly original, mint++ from the case to the amazing dial to the movement. This is one of those time machine watches, that make it seem like you just bought it from your official Rolex dealer last weekend.
Original stainless steel case measures 35mm diameter by 14.4mm thick. Crystal is domed acrylic. Original screw down crown and round pump style chronograph pushers are working perfectly. The smooth bezel and case sides are mirror polished while the top of the lugs are brush finished. The case is in mint plus condition.
Original dial is matte silver and almost egg shell white. Significantly, there is a blue Telemeter scale and the words ‘ANTI-MAGNETIC’ arching around the top of the subdial at 6 o’clock. The hour markers are applied and immediately adjacent to them, touching in fact, are the original luminous dots including a luminous dot at the top of the Rolex crown at 12 o’clock. These dials came with smaller or larger sub dials; these are the smaller, more collectable, size. The subdials are sunken with concentric guilloche. Subdials and main chronograph seconds hand are blued. The main hands are blade style with inlaid luminous. The hands are all original and mint. This dial is untouched original and perfect.
Original movement is the manual winding Rolex Caliber 72 with 17 jewels and column wheel construction. Movement is running fine and chronograph hands reset accurately and crisply to their zero positions. Movement is clean and in superlative condition.
Serial number 223XXX dates production to 1956. Inside case back is enraved ‘6234’.
Bracelet is Rolex riveted Oyster with 12 links and in mint condition.
