Description
Gerald Genta started out in the watch industry as a designer and the watches that he designed have a characteristically futuristic and sporty look about them. This Royal Chronometer is one of his more obscure designs, which served as the genesis of later Vacheron models like the Phidias, the 222 and the current Overseas models.
The stainless steel case has an integrated bracelet, which is really the Gerald Genta design cornerstone and invention. The case shape is square (although it appears rectangular) with concave corners. Bezel is polished, while the rest of the case and bracelet are brush finished. Crystal is sapphire. Caseback screws down. Bracelet tapers toward the clasp and the clasp features a Maltese cross engraved on the closure. Bracelet will fit up to a 7.25 inch wrist. Case dimensions are 36.5mm long by 36.5mm wide by 10.5mm thick.
Dial is silver with brushed finish, applied blackened hour markers and Maltese Cross, baton hands which are also blackened, a date window at 6 o’clock, and minutes chapter. This is a sigma dial which means that the hands and hour markers are white gold.
Movement is the automatic winding Vacheron Constantin Caliber 1096 with 21 jewels, gold rotor with guilloche, and adjusted to heat, cold, isochronism and in 5 positions. The movement is a C.O.S.C. Certified Chronometer.
