Description
Patek Philippe invented the annual calendar complication. They introduced this ingenious innovation with this model 5035 in the 1990s. The 5035 reached out to a new and younger target audience, when it debuted, supported by the "You Never Own a Patek Philippe Timepiece; You Merely Take Care of it for the Next Generation" marketing campaign. For many people who thought that a date was as complicated as a watch got, the annual calendar model caught their attention. Patek chose wisely to market the reference 5035 with this campaign, as it is a watch that combines traditional design elements with a modern appearance and a genuinely useful complication.
Dial is the very rare black with applied golden roman numerals and luminous hands (both with luminous inlaid). The subdials display day, month and 24 hour time. The date is in a window at 6 o'clock. Railroad style minutes chapter at the dial's periphery. The yellow gold case with black dial is the most rare 5035.
The 18k yellow gold case is 36.5mm diameter by 11mm thick, and features a smooth bezel, domed front sapphire crystal and sapphire display back crystal.
Movement is the automatic winding Patek Philippe Caliber 315 with power reserve of 48 hours, 35 jewels with 316 individual parts. Rotor is cast from 21k gold for winding efficiency. Movement is stamped with the prestigious Geneve Seal.
Strap is Patek brown crocodile with 18k Patek buckle. This watch is indistinguishable from new with box and papers.
