Description
Chopard sells tens of thousands of Mille Miglia and Happy Diamond watches each year, and these watches are what the brand is known for, horologically speaking. However, Chopard also offers some truly special watches, currently with the LUC models. This watch was made in the 1990s, in a limited edition of only 100 watches in platinum. The Luna d’Or is a perpetual calendar wristwatch with an eccentric presentation of the calendar functions.
Solid platinum case measures 36mm diameter by 9.4mm thick. Crystal is sapphire and the case is finished to a mirror polish throught except for the caseback, which is brushed and engraved with “PLATINE” and the limited edition number. Crown is protected by shoulders and the case back is secured by 8 screws.
Dial is silver with a radial brush finish and features applied hour markers and hands inlaid with luminous. The date is displayed along the retrograde scale arching between 10 o’clock and 2 o’clock. The subdial adjacent to 8 o’clock displays day and 24 hour time. Subdial adjacent to 4 o’clock displays month and leap year. Moonphase is displayed in the aperture above 6 o’clock.
Movement is automatic winding and is a Jaeger LeCoultre Caliber 888 ebauche with a proprietary perpetual calendar plate designed by Chopard.
This exclusive and interesting perpetual calendar is on a new black crocodile strap with platinum Chopard buckle. Watch is in new condition.
