Description
This vintage reference 2438 perpetual calendar from Patek Philippe is one of the most important and collectable watches in existence. This example is in perfect mint+ original condition. Production of the 2438 was extremely small and only a handful exist to this day. Its collectability is eclipsed only by its beauty.
Case is solid 18k yellow gold with dimensions of 37mm by 13mm thick. The lugs are stepped and the steps are as sharp and crisp as the day this watch left the factory in 1958. The 2438 has a screw back, which provides the watch with water resistance, and represents a meaningful improvement over the reference 2497 that preceded it. The crystal is domed acrylic. The case back is engraved “Charles to Arthur” “November 1964”.
Dial is silvered and in 100% original and untouched, perfect condition. Applied golden hour markers and dauphine hands. Day and month are displayed in apertures below 12 o’clock. Moonphase is displayed in aperture above 6 o’clock. The date is displayed by a small, original golden hand whose scale is printed around the moonphase subdial. The periphery of the dial has a minutes/seconds/5th of a second index chapter.
Movement is the manual winding Patek Philippe Caliber 27 SC Q with 18 jewels, adjusted to heat, cold, isochronism and in five positions, Breguet balance spring, and is stamped with the Geneva Seal.
Watch is on a black Patek Philippe crocodile strap with 18k Patek Philippe buckle.
We are proud to offer this outstanding wristwatch to all collectors.
