Description
This Patek Philippe Gondolo is a very interesting and unique wristwatch. Patek’s Collection book from 2002/2003 says: “Again and again, Patek Philippe celebrates its creative independence with limited editions featuring distinctive designs that require extra-ordinary skills. Among others, the Ref. 5099 – also called “Cabriolet” – is a fascinating example of this tradition.”
The square case is made from 18k rose and white gold and has 52 individual parts. The top of the case is faceted and hinged. The top opens when the two buttons on the outside of the case are depressed. The lugs are 18k white gold and there is a white gold section on the top of the hinged lid, that creates an uninterrupted line of white gold extending from lug to lug.
Case measures 29mm square by 8.4mm thick, with total length of 38.5mm from lug tip to lug tip. Crystal is sapphire. Inside surface of the hinged lid is mirror polished rose gold. Case back is brush finished and is secured by 4 screws.
Dial is a unique dark gold color with a unique semi matte semi glossy almost sparkly finish. Black glossy arabic numerals with square minutes chapter, subsidiary seconds dial and black sword hands.
Movement is the manual winding Patek Philippe Caliber 215PS with 18 jewels, Gyromax balance, beating at 28,800 beats per hour, 44 hour power reserve and with 130 individual parts. This movement is stamped with the Geneva Seal.
Strap is special hand sewn Patek smooth brown with special 18k rose gold square Patek tang buckle.
