Description
You read the title correctly, this watch is new old stock, still in new condition after all of these years. The Flightmaster is one of the all time greatest chronographs, built with the needs of long haul commercial pilots in mind. This watch even has the original ‘flightmaster’ box, which I’ve never even seen before!
The Flightmaster was ultimately produced in two generations, from 1970 through 1973. This is an original first series model and the watch is in unbelievably fantastic condition, even the original case finish is intact and unmarred.
Massive stainless steel case measures 52.5mm long by 43.5mm wide by 15.5mm thick. The top and sides of the case are brush finished, while the bottom of the case side (where it slants toward the case back) is polished. The case back is brush finished and its etched Omega logo, airplane, and ‘flightmaster’ are all crisp and never eroded by being polished. The crown is signed, and both chronograph pushers have red and yellow markings on their ends. The crown at 10 o’clock rotates the blue 24 hour hand. The crown at 8 o’clock rotates the internal bezel.
Original untouched dial is amazingly crisp. The center of the dial is anthracite (grey) in color and is surrounded by a pattern resembling a checkered flag. The two chronograph totalizer subdials (30 minutes and 12 hour) are brown and there is a brown and green 24 hour time subdial. Original hands are filled with luminous including the original blue 24 hour hand. All chronograph hands are original and orange color. The internal rotating bezel is divided and marked at 5 minute intervals and serves as a count-up timer.
Original movement is the automatic winding Omega Caliber 910 with 17 jewels.
Watch is accompanied by its original box, original operating pamphlet and warranty booklet. This is a one-time only opportunity to own a still new original first series Flightmaster.
