Description
The Chanel J12 is a very popular watch. The J12 is most famous in its all white configuration, and normally on a woman’s wrist. This watch is a huge departure from the common J12s. I admire companies that make these way off the track versions of their best selling watches. This J12 was only made in 250 pieces in 2008, in black ceramic with 18k gold bezel, crown and clasp. All 250 watches sold out at the authrorized dealers immediately.
Let’s start with the case. Yes, it’s ceramic, it’s black, it’s absolutely impervious to scratching… but best of all this case is 42mm in diameter (by 11mm thick) making it the largest J12 ever. The rotating bezel is solid 18k gold with a black ceramic area with the gold diver’s count up timing scale. The screw down crown is solid 18k gold with black cabochon. The case back deserves special mention because it’s a solid gold plate showing the 18k gold hallmarks, signed ‘CHANEL’ indicating its 50 meters of water resistance and its limited edition number (24X of 250 made).
Dial is black with applied golden arabic numerals, white inner minutes and seconds chapter ringed with gold, golden baton hands with luminous, and date window between 4 o’clock and 5 o’clock. Dial is signed “CHANEL J12 AUTOMATIC”.
Movement is the automatic winding Audemars Piguet Caliber 3125 with 40 jewels, beating at 21,600 vibrations per hour and with a 60 hour power reserve. As collectors know, Audemars Piguet is one of the most elite Swiss watch manufacturers and their in-house movements are the best.
Bracelet is black ceramic with full links to fit up to an 8 inch wrist. The clasp on the watch is 18k gold with a metal insert and it’s unquestionably the best watch clasp I have ever seen. You have to feel it yourself, but there is so much tension in the system that it feels like the closure is strongly magnetic (but it’s not).
Watch is complete with box and papers. This is a real collector’s piece that we are excited to offer to all watch aficionados.
