Description
I have always said that F.P. Journe is our generation’s Abraham-Louis Breguet. Journe’s Resonance watch put him at watchmaking’s highest level. His creativity and technical excellence are unparalleled.
This Chronometre Bleu has a tantalum case. Tantalum is dark grey in color, and there are definitely hints of blue color in the case. Tantalum is a precious metal with qualities that make it a great, but very rare, choice for a watch case. Specifically, tantalum is highly resistant to corrosion. Being a precious metal, the cost of tantalum is high. Tantalum is also very dense, meaning it has a pleasing heft like a gold watch. Lastly, because of its high melting point, actually forming a tantalum watch case is extremely difficult. F.P. Journe’s idea of creating a tantalum watch with a blue dial is yet another example of his creativity. Journe’s execution is on par with his creativity, proving his greatness. Case dimensions are 40mm diameter by 9mm thick.
Blue dial is simple, elegant and beautiful. Perfectly balanced white arabic numerals adjacent to classical minutes and seconds chapter, off-center subsidiary seconds dial and white hands.
Movement is the F.P. Journe Caliber 1304 with 22 jewels, made from 18k solid gold, manual winding, with 55 hour power reserve, and adjusted to six positions.
Strap is Journe hand-sewn dark blue crocodile with tantalum Journe tang buckle.
Watch is new and complete with box and papers.
