OMEGA SEAMASTER AUTOMATIC STEEL

The first thing one notices when studying this watch is the condition of the case and dial. For a 60 year old watch, the original stainless steel case is like new. While this is a SeaMaster, the lugs are ornate and the original beveled edges on the lugs are still intact and clean. The top surfaces of the case and the entirety of the lugs have their original mirror polish, while the case sides are brush finished. Crystal is bombe plastic and the case back is a relatively massive steel snap back. Case measures an unusually large 35mm by 9.8mm thick.

Also very unusual, is the pairing of the automatic movement with subsidiary seconds on the dial. Silver dial is entirely untouched and original with applied Arabic numerals and markers. The markers have a dot of luminous tucked into them. The subsidiary seconds dial is sunken and has concentric guilloche. Hands are the original dauphine hands, which show some age. Dial itself is absolutely mint and untouched.

Movement is a so-called bumper automatic caliber, where the rotor does not make a full 360 degree rotational orbit, but rather moves back and forth in a 240 degree or so range. The seventeen jewel Caliber 344 movement is clean as can be and running strong.
