Additional Information
The Patek Philippe reference 1526 was Patek’s first regular production perpetual calendar. For many collectors, your author included, this is the quintessential perpetual calendar. The way the calendar information is presented on the dial is just perfect. There have been many alternative presentations of calendar information, from countless manufacturers over the years, but none has come close to the 1526’s clean, legible and aesthetically pleasing dial.

The case is solid 18k yellow gold with dimensions of 34mm diameter by 11.5mm thick. The crystal is domed acylic. The case back is a snap back. Interestingly, the bezel is approximately the same depth as the case body. The bezel and top of the lugs are polished, the case body is brush finished as is the case back. The lugs arch slightly downward. The case condition is mint+.

Dial is 100% original and untouched, matte silver in color, with applied golden Arabic numerals and hour marker dots, with a printed minutes scale at the periphery. The golden hands are also original and are leaf style, which in Patek vernacular are called Feuille hands. The subsidiary seconds hand is also a golden leaf style, but in miniature. The day and month are displayed beneath the 12 o’clock position, while the date is displayed by the blued hand along the outer chapter surrounding the moonphase aperture. The moonphase disc is original, blue, and with golden stars and moon. I find this dial to be absolutely beautiful. The dial and hands are in mint+ all original condition.

Movement is the manual winding perpetual calendar Caliber 12’’’ 120 QP with 18 jewels, adjusted to 5 positions, heat, cold and isochronism. The caliber also features a Breguet balance spring and micrometer regulation system. The movement is extremely clean and operating perfectly.

Strap is brown Patek Philippe crocodile with 18k gold Patek clasp.

There were only 210 reference 1526 perpetual calendars made over this model’s lifetime from 1941 through 1952. This 1526 was manufactured toward the end of the production. Patek Philippe 1526s are rare, and to find one this nice is extremely rare. This watch would be both a privilege and a pleasure to own!
