Description
Now this is a really interesting watch. Rolex vintage Day Date President with unusual reference number 1806 with rare original Moire case finish and super-rare original Masonic dial. Whenever I discover a watch like this one, I stop and wonder who the original owner was. Masonic symbols originate with the Freemasons, a most mysterious and highly discrete secret society. I think it’s fascinating.
Original solid 18k gold case on this watch is a treat. This is the correct and original finish for a model 1806 case, a fine pattern of crisscrossing lines named Moire. The Moire pattern is on the top of the lugs and on the bezel. Plastic crystal and original gold screw down crown which is operating perfectly. Dimensions are 36mm diameter by 12mm thick. Condition of the case is mint.
Original champagne pie-pan style dial with applied golden hour markers and original early style baton hands which taper to a point on the end versus the later flat-ended hands. Full day on display at 12 o’clock and date at 3 o’clock. The symbol is the most famous from Freemasonry, the Square and Compasses, is in the center of the dial with the “G” in the center in blue.
Original automatic winding Rolex Caliber 1555 with 26 jewels and adjusted in 5 positions and to temperature. Movement is immaculate and running strong. This is a C.O.S.C. Certified Chronometer.
Watch will be delivered on quality black leather strap with Rolex buckle.
