Description
A. Lange & Sohne makes such a nice watch. Every detail of a Lange & Sohne watch is perfect. The movements are true works of art and, of course, of the highest mechanical and horologic quality. The cases have perfect, clean lines free of any superfluous embellishments. The dials have a signature look – part Bauhaus, usually featuring the over-sized date display, and with perfect visual balance. I am a big Lange fan and owning one of their watches will make anyone a Lange devotee.
Case is solid platinum with dimensions of 40.3mm diameter by 10.2mm thick. Sapphire front and display back crystals. Button at 10 o’clock advances the date.
The dial is silver with applied white gold hour markers (with double markers at the cardinal points), sunken subsidiary seconds dial with blued hand and Lange’s fantastic two window outsized date display framed in white gold. Lange uses their own style of hands, which they fill with luminous.
The movement requires you to stare at it for at least 15 minutes every morning before you strap it on. The balance cock is hand decorated, which means that each and every Lange movement is really an individual work of art. The movement also features the Glashutte ¾ plate, upon which is mounted the 21k gold mini-rotor with platinum segment (for extra mass = better winding efficiency). The movement features 45 jewels and Lange’s proprietary Sax-O-Mat system whereby the seconds hand flies to the zero position and stops when the crown is pulled out. This makes setting the time very easy.
