Description
The Rolex Paul Newman Daytona is the king of vintage watches. It’s hard to keep them in inventory. This watch has an original untouched white 3 color Paul Newman dial – awesome! The case is a two million case (2003XXX) and has something we have only seen once before: rounded tops to the lugs. It’s definitely a different form to the case, which makes this vintage Daytona a rare watch indeed.
Original stainless steel case measures 37mm diameter by 13.6mm thick. Original bezel with Units per Hour scale from ‘50’ to ‘200’. Bezel has crisp edges. Round pump style chronograph pushers and original screw down crown operating perfectly. Plastic crystal. The big story with the case is the unusual lugs, which are bowed or rounded over the top instead of flat and polished instead of brushed.
Original untouched white Paul Newman (or “exotic”) three color dial in mint condition. Original baton hands. Luminous dots are original and intact.
Original movement is the manual winding Rolex Caliber 722 with seventeen jewels and adjusted to three positions. This caliber features column wheel construction, which is acknowledged to be the superior mechanical and aesthetic approach to building a chronograph movement. The movement is clean and beautiful and running perfectly.
Bracelet is Rolex riveted Oyster with 12 links, clean condition and slight stretch.
