Description
Observant followers of our watches know that I have a love of gold vintage Rolex watches. They exude a warmth of tone and display a degree of character unsurpassed in the world of watches. This particular Cosmograph Daytona is a reference 6264, which is rare, and much rarer still in 14k yellow gold.
Original case is 14k yellow gold with dimensions of 38mm diameter by 13.5mm thick. Original 14k gold bezel has a sharp edge and mint glossy black bezel insert with Units Per Hour scale from ‘50’ to ‘200’. Screw down crown and round pump-style chronograph pushers are original and working properly. Condition of the case is mint.
Original movement is the manual winding Rolex Caliber 727 with 17 jewels and adjusted to three positions. The caliber features column wheel construction and is in clean and running condition. Chronograph resets crisply and accurately to the zero positions.
Original untouched black dial with applied golden hour markers and contrasting gold subdials in mint condition. Original hands. Black dial vintage Daytonas are significantly rarer than the gold or silver variants and set off the gold color in a way that the light color dials cannot.
Bracelet is 14k gold riveted Rolex Oyster in clean condition.
This is a rare beautiful vintage Rolex Cosmograph Daytona and will be a definite keeper for whoever acquires it.
