Description
Here is an exceptionally collectable watch: Rolex Submariner model 5514 COMEX with extensive documentation. We received this watch from the diver who it was originally issued to by Comex. His name is A. Devitt and he wrote an original hand-signed letter certifying that he received the watch as a gift from COMEX in 1976 for achieving the deepest hyperbaric dive in the North Sea. The letter goes on to attest that this watch was worn on all the divers’ assignments. Further, the watch was overhauled (but kept completely original) by Rolex in October 2009 and has the Rolex International Service Guarantee document. Finally, copies of the diver’s Comex Record of Dive sheets for many of his dives are included.
Original case is stainless steel with original everything, all functioning perfectly, and in mint+ condition with dimensions of 40mm diameter by 14.6mm thick. Domed plastic crystal. Original bezel turns as it should and has the original, slightly faded insert. Screw-down crown operates perfectly. Case back has the COMEX Issue number on it and the watch’s serial number is 5230XXX. Helium escape valve on the 9 o’clock case side.
Original untouched black COMEX signed Submariner dial with original patina. Original hands with patina matching the dial.
Original automatic winding Rolex Caliber 1520 which, given the 2009 Rolex service, is in perfect condition and the case has not been opened since the service.
Bracelet is a modern heavy link Rolex Oyster model 93150.
Watch is accompanied by original hand-signed letter from its original owner, Rolex Service Corp. document from 2009 service along with diver’s dive records from Comex.
