Description
If you have been around for watches for a while, you probably (like I do) think of the 16610 Submariner as the classical Submariner with date. They made it forever and it’s a classic already. However, if you have not yet seen one of these new model 116610LN Submariners in the metal, you can’t appreciate just how much of an improvement it is over the 16610.
The case is more massive (just look at the lugs). The clasp is awesome. The hour markers are larger hence, the dial is more legible. The bezel is ceramic which won’t fade or scratch.
Case is massive stainless steel with FAT lugs, brush finished on the top surfaces and mirror polished on the sides, and with dimensions of 41.2mm diameter (although Rolex says 40mm but my digital calipers don’t lie) by 12.9mm thick. Sapphire crystal. Look at the crown guards – also significantly more massive than in previous case designs. Ditto the bezel, which is bigger than its predecessor. Triplock screw down crown. Case is water resistant to a minimum of 1000 feet = 300 meters.
Deep glossy black dial with oversized applied luminous hour markers, luminous hands and date at 3 o’clock.
Rolex automatic winding Caliber 3135 with 31 jewels, beating at 28,800 beats per hour, with Parachrom Breguet spring and other Rolex advancements. Movement is a C.O.S.C. Certified Chronometer.
Rolex Oyster bracelet with sliding adjustable flip-lock clasp. These new clasps are a huge improvement over the folded steel clasps Rolex used for decades.
Watch is is 99% new with Rolex box and papers/card.
