Description
Patek Philippe minute repeater watches are the most exclusive, special, collectable and, frankly, investment worthy wristwatches extant. This model 3979 began production in 1989, and offers features that are rare and highly-esteemed in a minute repeater, namely automatic winding and enamel dial.
Further, the case was made by John Pierre Hagman, Patek Philippe’s and Geneva’s most celebrated and revered case maker. Mr. Hagman is so important and highly-regarded, that Patek has a “JHP” hallmark used on the cases that he makes. On this 3979 the hallmark is on the case body between the lugs on the 6 o’clock side of the case.
Solid 18k gold case with claw style lugs, repeater slide on the 9 o’clock case side, mirror polished throughout, sapphire crystals front and display back, and with dimensions of 34mm diameter by 10.5mm thick.
Enamel white dial with roman numerals, classical minutes chapter, subsidiary seconds dial, and blackened feuille hands.
Automatic winding Patek Philippe Caliber R 27 PS with 39 jewels, 22k mini-rotor, balance adjusted to heat, cold, isochronism and in 5 positions and stamped with the Geneva Seal. Movement has 342 individial parts. The minute repeaters hammers and gongs are visible in the display back. The tone of the repeater is so nice and clear.
New hand-sewn Patek Philippe alligator strap with Patek tang buckle.
Watch is as new with second case back, second new black strap, leather wallet, original brochures, original small format Certificate and original box. Significantly, the watch is accompanied by a (still sealed inside plastic sleeve) Patek Philippe factory service booklet so it has been factory serviced.
