Description
Omega collectors are familiar with the Louis Brandt perpetual calendar, an 18k Omega perpetual calendar wristwatch. At first glance, this watch seems to be a Brandt. However, this is probably the rarest production Omega Speedmaster of them all! The Omega model number for this watch is: 175.0037 and it was produced in only 50 pieces for Japan in 1991.
An identical watch, with serial number only a few digits away from this watch, sold in a January 2013 Antiquorum auction for $21,739! This watch is in unpolished, mint+ condition with Omega box.
Original solid 18k gold case with the Speedmaster’s signature twisted lug design, domed plastic crystal, round pump style chronograph pushers, signed original 18k crown, solid 18k Tacymeter scale bezel, and engraved special limited edition case back which is shown in the pictures below. This watch celebrates Switzerland’s 700th Anniversary which is commemorated on the case back.
Original untouched gold color dial with applied golden hour markers and peripheral minutes and seconds chapter. Moonphase cut-out at 3 o’clock; 6 o’clock subdial displays day and chronograph 12 hour totalizer; 9 o’clock subdial displays month, chronograph 30 minutes totalizer and leap year; 12 o’clock subdial displays date and constant seconds. Original hands are all blackened for legibility against the gold dial except for the chronograph seconds hand which is gold. Subdials are sunken, in contrasting silver color, and traced in gold.
Original movement is the Omega Caliber 1160 with 27 jewels, self-compensating balance spring and fine regulator. Movement is clean and running.
Strap is new brown Hermes strap with generic buckle.
You will not find another one of these watches, ever. Case is unpolished and this watch is in mint+ condition.
