Description
Here is a beautiful and 100% original Rolex GMT Master reference 6542 from 1957. Condition all around is mint. The market for 6542s is really hot right now and this is a great all-original watch. Finding these 6542s in all-original condition, particularly with the Bakelite insert, is getting nearly impossible.
Original stainless steel case has absolutely minimal polishing, if any at all. Look at the lugs and their crisp perfect bevel, and look at the tips too: fat and uniform. Original bezel and original Bakelite bezel. Plastic crystal. Screw down crown operating perfectly. Dimensions are 38mm diameter by 12.7mm thick. Serial number is 321XXX which dates the watch to 1957. Inside case back has ‘6542’ and date code is ‘IV.1957’.
Original untouched and beautiful black dial with rail chapter and gilt print. Roulette date wheel alternating between red and black numerals. There is a very small interruption to the dial color at the very edge between the 45 and 48 minute marks. Nice patina across the luminous on the hour markers and original hands. Dial is mint.
Original automatic winding Rolex Caliber 1036 with 25 jewels and adjusted in 5 positions and to temperature. Movement is a C.O.S.C. Certified Chronometer and is in clean running condition.
Bracelet is Rolex stretch riveted Oyster with 12 links in clean condition with negligible stretch.
