Description
Jaeger LeCoultre’s Reverso is one of the greatest watches ever, both from a design perspective and also because the manufacture movements made in JLC’s ateliers are second to none. This tourbillon is one of the rare high-complication limited edition Reversos that JLC produces about once a decade. This limited edition tourbillon is from 1993, when Jaeger made 500 of them and stopped forever. This is a very collectable wristwatch.
Solid 18k rose gold case has dimensions of 42mm long including the lugs, by 26mm wide by 9.5mm thick. Being a Reverso, the case swivels to reveal the display back which in this case reveals the tourbillon and a power reserve indicator. Sapphire crystals front and back.
Dial is silver with black arabic numerals, blued sword hands and subsidiary seconds dial. “TOURBILLON” arches over the subsidiary dial. Center of dial has guilloche. On the reverse side of the case is the steel bridge mounted tourbillon and power reserve indicator which is nicely decorated with guilloche.
Movement is the manual winding in-house Jaeger LeCoultre Caliber 828 with 27 jewels, one-minute tourbillon and self-compensating Breguet balance spring. It is beautifully hand finished and decorated.
In fact, this is one of those rare watches which restore our faith in hand-made products, while if not exactly built by elves in the Swiss forest, most surely made by some of the finest Swiss watchmakers in their elite atelier.
Strap is Jaeger black crocodile with Jaeger 18k rose gold deployment clasp.
