Description
This is our nicest Rolex Explorer II model 1655. It has the visual “pop” that only very select watches achieve. Of course, its never polished case helps it be so perfect, as does the deep patina on the mint+ condition original untouched dial. Just a super nice watch.
The Rolex Explorer II reference 1655 was the first Explorer II. It has a unique look in the history of Rolex watches, with its orange colored 24 hour second timezone hand, steel bezel with 24 hour scale and the hands and dial on the 1655 are unique to this model.
Original unpolished mint+ condition stainless steel case measures 38mm diameter by 14mm thick. The bezel has an engraved and brush finished 24 hour scale with black numbers. Screw down crown is operating perfectly. Acrylic crystal with cyclops. Serial number is 8270XXX dates production to 1983.
Original untouched black dial in perfect condition. The hour markers and original hands have a deep and matching patina. Date at 3 o’clock. Original silver date wheel.
Rolex automatic winding Caliber 1575, derived from the Caliber 1570 - arguably the best large series production automatic movement by any manufacturer, ever. This movement is known to keep time to within one or two seconds per day, even after 30+ years of service. The 1575 provides 24 hour GMT timekeeping and date, in addition to hours, minutes and seconds. Movement is clean and running.
