Description
This is a very collectable watch. First of all, it’s an early Datejust from 1960 with the original blade hands and doorstop hour markers. Second of all, the original untouched dial is signed Serpico Y Laino along with Rolex. Serpico y Laino is a famous jeweler and Caracas’s first authorized Rolex dealer. If you are not acquainted with the Serpico y Laino story, spend some time reading about it. If a movie was ever made about these two Italian immigrants in Venezuela at the start of the second world war, let me know. I want to watch it.
Original solid 18k gold Datejust case with original fluted bezel which almost looks like the reeded bezel used on earlier Datejusts. Original screw down crown operating perfectly. Plastic crystal. Dimensions are 36mm diameter by 11.3mm thick.
Original untouched silver dial pie pan dial with applied golden hour markers and original golden blade hands. Dial shows some light aging. Signed Rolex and Serpico Y Laino. Date at 3 o’clock.
Original Rolex automatic winding Caliber 1560 with 25 jewels and butterfly rotor. Movement is clean, running and is a C.O.S.C. Certified Chronometer.
Strap is new brown alligator with gold plated Rolex buckle
