Description
Ah, the beauty, simplicity and versatility of a steel Rolex with a silver dial. Oh, but wait – the dial on this watch has a champagne color patina – even nicer looking than the original silver color! This model 1500 from 1966 also has an unusual feature – the smooth bezel. It is THE perfect watch for every look and every season and every climate.
Original stainless steel case with smooth bezel is 35mm in diameter by 11.5mm thick with clean plastic crystal and original screw-down crown, which is operating perfectly.
Original dial is silver with sunburst guilloche finish and applied hour markers, original hands, and date at 3 o’clock. As mentioned, the dial has developed a champagne gold patina which looks smashing!
Movement is the automatic winding Rolex Caliber 1560 with 26 jewels. This is a C.O.S.C. Certified Chronometer. In my opinion, the Rolex Calibers 1560/70 (with date) and 1520 (no date) are the best-ever mass produced automatic winding calibers. These movements will run to within a few seconds a day for decades, and if properly and periodically serviced for several generations! This particular watch's movement is very clean and running.
