Description
This Panerai Luminor Marina is from the Historic Collection, which means it harkens back directly to Panerai’s roots. For one thing, the case back is solid as opposed to the display found on most modern Panerai watches. Display backs are fun, but in the case of Panerai, not historically accurate. The 44mm case with Panerai’s patented crown protection system is also classical Panerai. There is a lot to love about the PAM5.
Stainless steel case is 44mm and with truly massive proportions: 14.5mm thick with large lugs with screws securing the strap and a very thick sapphire crystal (a ridiculous 3.5mm thick!). Water resistant to 300 meters. Crown protection device that makes sure the crown is secured in water-tight position.
Dial is black with highly luminous Arabic numerals and subsidiary seconds hand at 9 o’clock. The Panerai logo is above 6 o’clock.
Movement is the C.O.S.C. Certified Chronometer Panerai Caliber OP II with 17 jewels, beating at 21,600 vibrations per hour and with Incabloc shock protection. Power reserve is 56 hours.
Strap is medium brown leather Panerai and the watch has its second rubber strap. Large steel buckle.
