You really can’t ask for a nicer complicated watch for the price than this one! Audemars Piguet is an elite Swiss manufacture with only in-house calibers and here is one of their all-time great watches… in platinum, no less. The skeletonized dial with midnight blue chapter rings kills it. And to top it all off, the movement features automatic winding with a skeletonized rotor.
Platinum case measures 36mm diameter by 8mm thick. Sapphire front and back crystals. Stepped bezel. This watch was produced in a small quantity only, and this is watch number 12X. Case is mint.
Of course, on a skeletonized watch there is no proper dial. But trust me, that’s a good thing. This movement is a marvel. Completely hand-decorated and hand-finished, you can see straight through this movement and you can see how intricate and beautiful this machine is. The chapter rings display month, date, moonphase and day. The subdial hands are blued whereas the minute and hour hands are white gold and are surprisingly legible. For me, the highlight is the day hand which is mounted to a star.
Automatic winding and highly skeletonized Audemars Piguet Caliber 2120 with 38 jewels, self-compensating balance spring with balance adjusted to heat, cold, isochronism and in 5 positions, and skeletonized winding rotor with 21k segment.
Strap is new old stock vintage AP crocodile with original platinum tang buckle.
