Description
I remember the first time I saw the 5130 worldtimer on a bracelet, I could not take my eyes off of it. There are lots and lots of nice watches, but the 5130 on a bracelet is just beautiful.
The Patek Philippe reference 5130 world time watch is really something special. I love it when Patek Philippe makes a modern version of a watch with a complication that they invented. No one does it better and no manufacturer does complications better than Patek.
Dial is silver. Inner zone is grey with guilloche and applied hour markers. Surrounding this area is a ring with numerals '1' through '24' which represent the 24 hours in a day. This ring turns counter clockwise, making a full rotation once every 24 hours. The time in the 24 reference cities, printed in the dial's outermost area, can be seen simultaneously with this world time system. In my opinion, this manner of tracking world time is much better than watches which merely use a 24 hour "GMT" hand, forcing the wearer to calculate worldtime versus simply reading it at a glance as this watch allows. The world time complication is very prestigious and useful.
The case on this 5130 is 18k white gold with diameter of 40mm, 42mm includuing the crown guards, and 10.9mm thick. Sapphire crystal. Button at 10 o'clock advances the hour hand and world time time indicator in one hour increments. This allows the traveller the ability to change time as he or she travels through timezones.
Movement is the Patek Philippe Caliber 240 HU with 33 jewels and 48 hour power reserve. The caliber is stamped with the Geneva Seal.
Watch is on Patek solid 18k white gold bracelet with double-folding deployment clasp with safety latch.
Watch is indiscernible from new.
