Description
Here is the earliest example of the Daytona, a transitional 6238>6239 from early in 1963, with correct 923XXX serial number. Original untouched milk-white UNDERLINE dial with tropical subdials and double 'SWISS'marking along with Mark One double-hash bezel.
Original stainless steel case is 37mm diameter and the round case contour where the crown is located (versus the later cases that have a protuberance in the shape). Plastic period-correct crystal. Original screw down twin-lock crown and pump style chrono pushers work perfectly. Case back is correctly marked '6238'.
Original untouched double-SWISS UNDERLINE dial. Applied hour markers and sunken, contrasting brown "tropical" subdials and all original hands.
Original manual winding Rolex Caliber 72B with 17 jewels and column wheel construction. Movement is pristine and running.
Watch is mint+ and is in all likelihood the only one you will ever see on the market.
