Description
When is a splash of red worth (much) more than its weight in gold? When it says SUBMARINER on the dial of a vintage Rolex Submariner reference 1680, that’s when. And it’s worth it, too. That splash of red on the dial makes the whole watch stand out not only aesthetically, but also as a collectable. This watch has Rolex Service papers and has not been worn since its Rolex service.
Original case is stainless steel with dimensions of 40mm by 13.9mm thick. Crystal is plastic. Screw down “Trip Lock” crown is original and working smoothly. This case has its full metal – fat and even lugs, and is in mint+ condition. Bezel rotates smoothly. Insert is original. Serial number 2215XXX dates production to 1969.
Original Mark 3 tropical dial and hands. The dial is JUST turning in color and you can see the emergent brown hues. Very nice indeed. Red “SUBMARINER” and date at 3 o’clock.
Original automatic Rolex Caliber with 26 jewels and adjusted to five positions and temperature. This movement is a C.O.S.C. Certified Chronometer. As collectors know, this is the first Submariner to have the date feature. Movement received an overhaul at Rolex and is clean and running.
