Cartier has always been a force in the watch world thanks to their iconic designs. Since buying the Roger Dubuis manufacture a few years ago, Cartier has also become a force in horology. In fact, this Calibre de Cartier introduced Cartier’s new in-house manufacture movement, the Caliber 1904 which is a marvelously designed and rendered movement. The “1904” is a reference to the year in which Louis Cartier developed the first wristwatch specifically made for men, the pilot’s model he made for his friend Alberto Santos-Dumont.

This diver’s edition of The Calibre is a very cool watch, with its 42mm steel case which incorporates a black diver’s timing bezel, massive proportions and crown set with a sapphire cabochon. Sapphire crystal, screw down crown with protection and massive steel back combine to provide 300 meters of water resistance. The rubber strap is also impervious to water and wears very comfortably.

Black dial with Cartier’s iconic roman numerals, luminous sword hands, seconds subdial and date window at 3 o’clock.

Automatic winding Cartier Caliber 1904-PS-MC has 27 jewels, beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour and made from 186 components. The movement is elegantly decorated and finished.
