Description
Here is one of the earliest 18k GMT Master watches, with outstandingly crisp case and desirable brown dial and faded brown bezel insert. Back in 1967, if you were wearing an 18k Rolex GMT, you were no doubt a sophisticated first class world traveler. I would love to hear about some of this watch’s past adventures.
Original 18k gold case is very crisp with sharp edges all around. Case is 40mm diameter by 12.8mm thick. Original screw down crown working perfectly. Plastic crystal. Original bezel and original, faded, brown insert. Serial number 1638XXX dates production to 1967.
Original brown dial with golden markers, original early style baton hands and 24 hour hand with small arrow, and date at 3 o’clock. Note the dial signature ROLEX OYSTER PERPETUAL and the absence of “DATE” which would added soon after this watch.
Original automatic winding Rolex Caliber 1575 with 26 jewels and adjusted in 5 positions and to temperature. Movement is immaculate and running and is a C.O.S.C. Certified Chronometer.
Vintage Rolex leather strap with Rolex buckle. This early 18k GMT Master is in mint+ condition.
