Description
There is no more handsome watch in the world than a gold Sub. Truly majestic and obviously prestigious. The 16808 Submariner is a true transitional model, introducing both the sapphire crystal and quickset date to the Submariner. As for the nipple dial, these are getting very hard to find on 16808s. Take a look, and you will find the later dials with the regular luminous.
Solid 18k gold case measures 40mm diameter by 12.7mm thick. Being a Submariner the watch is water resistant to 300 meters (1000 feet) and features a sapphire crystal and screw down crown. Serial number 6704XXX dates the watch to 1980.
Original black “nipple” dial in perfect condition. Hands are original. Date window at 3 o’clock.
Movement is the automatic winding Rolex Caliber 3035 with 27 jewels and is a C.O.S.C. Certified Chronometer. Movement is clean and running and marks the introduction of the quickset date on a Submariner.
Bracelet is the original 18k Rolex Oyster with solid gold links, solid end-links and flip-lock clasp.
