Description
The Big Crown is the Submariner that every collector wants, but few get to own. This watch is particularly good looking.
Original stainless steel case is 38mm diameter by 14.5mm thick. The lugs are fat and even. The original Brevet screw down crown operates smoothly. The bezel and insert are both original. Note the faded red triangle at the zero position on the timing bezel. The bezel still turns smoothly but with the appropriate amount of resistance. Crystal is domed plastic and clean. Serial number 426XXX dates production to 1958. Inside case back is marked ‘6538’ and has IV.1958 as its date code.
Original movement is the automatic winding Rolex Caliber 1030 with 25 jewels and adjusted to 5 positions and temperature. The movement is clean and running.
Untouched original and old gilt chapter Rolex service dial with extremely pleasing patina which matches the hands perfectly.
Bracelet is Rolex stretch Oyster with July 1959 date code with 11 links. Bracelet is in mint+ condition with zero stretch.
This is a wonderful, mint condition Big Crown Submariner and will be a prized addition to whichever collection it enters.
