Description
The platinum Daytona was a watch that Rolex lovers dared not dream of… because its chances of becoming a reality were slim to none. Rolex is sometimes criticized for being too conservative, but this watch should lay that matter to bed once and for all. Introduced in 2013, to commemorate the Daytona’s 50th Anniversary, this platinum Daytona is the nicest Daytona yet.
Case is solid platinum. That alone makes a statement – the heft is like nothing else. Bezel is chestnut brown Cerachrom ceramic. Case is 40mm diameter by 12.5mm thick. Sapphire crystal. Screw down crown and chronograph pushers. The Oyster bracelet is also solid platinum with the adjustable flip-lock clasp.
Dial is ice blue, which is a dial color that Rolex reserves for its platinum watches. The brown from the bezel is repeated in the chronograph chapter rings. Applied luminous hour markers and hands.
Movement is the automatic winding Rolex chronograph Caliber 4130 with 44 jewels, Parachrome Breguet balance spring, Rolex’s ingenious MicroStella regulating screws system, and many other impressive technical features. This movement is a C.O.S.C. Certified Chronometer.
