Description
The Patek reference 5070 chronograph is an important, as well as beautiful watch. Its oversized, sculpted 42mm case marked the emerging stylistic influence of Thierry Stern on Patek’s timepieces. The 5070 foreshadowed Patek’s future designs, while drawing many of its design influences from vintage models.
Case features stepped lugs and a broad bezel, along with rectangular chronograph pushers and sapphire front and display back crystals. At 42mm diameter, the size is bold and modern and makes a strong impression.
Smoky silver dial with applied rose gold numerals and feuille hands. The outermost chapter on the dial is a simple seconds register for the chronograph seconds hand, while the inner chapter is a tachymetric scale. Dual subdials for running seconds and chronograph minutes counter.
Movement is the manual winding Patek Caliber 27, clearly visible through the sapphire display back, proudly displaying its Geneva Seal. 28 jewels in this beauty, which beats at a leisurely 18,000 BPH... which helps to extend the power reserve to approximately 56 hours.
