Description
Spectacular in every way, is the best way to describe this watch. The massive 44mm 18k gold case on the integral bracelet immediately catches the eye, and holds it. The watch is a winner for its case and bracelet alone. Match the legendary Royal Oak construction and looks with this tourbillon and chronograph movement, and you get one of the very best watches ever made.
The Royal Oak is an absolute watch icon, designed by Gerald Genta. The octagonal bezel with exposed structural screws, with octagonal crown, the beveled case edges, the case finish alternating between mirror and matte surfaces… and at 44mm and in 18k gold throughout…? Forget about it. This is THE watch. Sapphire crystals front and display back. This watch is heavy in an extremely pleasing way.
Although Audemars calls this dial “silver toned”, I see it as white. Dial is engraved with the classical Grande Tapisserie pattern with applied 18k markers and hands, both with inlaid luminous. Dial has a cutout circle for viewing the tourbillon along with two subdials: for running seconds and chronograph 30 minute totalizer.
Movement is the in-house AP Caliber 2889 with manual winding, 28 jewels, tourbillon, 72 hour power reserve and 290 individual parts. More than these details, however, the movement is also very nice looking and is completely hand decorated and hand finished.
Watch is new with box and papers.
