Description
This reference 116748SA is a special European market only GMT which never appeared on a USA pricelist. The USA market version, reference 116758, has diamonds set into the top of the lugs. This 116748 watch does not have diamond set lugs, which for many collectors is a good thing since diamond lugs make the watch more ostentatious. If you have not seen one of these GMTs, let me tell you that the diamond and sapphire set bezel is, believe it or not, understated… and gorgeous.
Case is 18k gold with dimensions of 40mm diameter by 12mm thick. Trip-Lock crown. Sapphire crystal. Water resistant to 100 meters. Of course, the big story with this GMT (apart from the non diamond set lugs) is the bezel. The bezel is Rolex factory set with 29 baguette diamonds along with and 30 baguette sapphires.
Dial is factory pave diamond dial. The hour markers and hands are generously coated in bright white luminous. Large arrow tipped 24 hour hand permits tracking a second timezone. Hour hand is independently adjustable in one hour increments, backward and forward, to permit easy adjustment to local time when travelling.
Movement is the automatic winding Rolex Caliber 3185 with 31 jewels. This is a C.O.S.C. Certified Chronometer.
Watch is like new, with Rolex box and Rolex service papers.
