The Day Date is Rolex’s top of the line watch. Displaying the day of the week below 12 o’clock and the date at 3 o’clock, this model also became known as the President because the watch was worn by numerous American Presidents.
Produced only in 18k gold and in platinum, the Day Date over the years has had some very interesting dials. This watch has a red “Vignette” dial. The vignette dial is rare, especially on a men’s size Rolex watch.
Original 18k gold case features sapphire crystal, solid gold fluted bezel, original 18k screw down crown operating perfectly and massive 18k screw back. Case is in near mint condition and is 36mm diameter and 12.4mm thick.
Original untouched orange red Vignette dial with applied diamond hour markers and golden baton hands. The vignette dial, sometime called “Degrade”, is lighter in color in the middle of the dial and the color darkens as it approaches the dial’s edge. The vignette dial is very collectable and close to the Stella dial in rarity,
Original automatic winding Rolex Caliber 3055 with 27 jewels and adjusted in 5 positions and to temperature. Movement is clean and running and is a C.O.S.C. Certified Chronometer.
Strap is new Patek Philippe cordovan crocodile with Rolex buckle.
