Description
This Rolex pre-Daytona chronograph reference 6234 is just startlingly nice. The condition is mint+. This is one of the nicest vintage Rolex watches I have ever seen.
Original 18k case has smooth bezel and is 35mm diameter by 14.4mm thick. Crystal is domed plastic. Original screw down crown and round pump style chronograph pushers are working perfectly. Serial number 166XXX dates production to circa 1954. Inside case back is enraved ‘6234’. Case condition is AMAZING.
Original GORGEOUS lemony champagne color dial. Significantly, there is a blue Telemeter scale and ‘ANTI-MAGNETIQUE’ above the subdial at 6 o’clock. The hour markers are applied and adjacent to them are the original luminous dots including a luminous dot at the top of the Rolex crown at 12 o’clock. These dials came with smaller or larger sub dials; these are the smaller, more collectable, size. The subdials are sunken with concentric guilloche. Hands are blade style with inlaid luminous. Chronograph seconds hand is blued.
Original movement is the manual winding Rolex Caliber 72 with 17 jewels and column wheel construction. Movement is clean and running and chronograph hands reset accurately and crisply to their zero positions.
Bracelet is Rolex stretch riveted Oyster with 12 links and in mint+ condition just like the watch.
