Description
The reference 6240 Cosmograph Daytona is the first Rolex chronograph to feature screw down chronograph pushers. The model 6240 is the rarest Daytona, and was produced from 1965 into 1967, as essentially a prototype for the later models 6263 and 6265 known for their screw down chronograph pushers. At the time of its production, Rolex Daytona watches had (non-screw down) “pump” chronograph pushers and 6240s were unknown to consumers of the period.

Original stainless steel case measures 37.5mm diameter by 14mm thick. Bezel insert features “Units per Hour” scale from ‘50’ to ‘200’. The screw down crown and screw down chronograph pushers all work perfectly, and the chronograph hands reset crisply to their zero positions. The lugs are symmetrical and uniform with sharp edges.

Silver dial with applied hour markers and original hands. The tropical sub-dials provide 30 minute and 12 hour chronograph totalizers and constant seconds.

Original movement is the manual winding Rolex Caliber 72B with 17 jewels.
