The Watch Gods were smiling, when Rolex started making Daytonas. Observant followers of our watches know that I love gold vintage Rolex watches. They exude a warmth of tone and display a degree of character unsurpassed in the world of watches.
The gold case and black bezel insert and black dial make an arrestingly great looking watch. While a gold 6264 (any 6264!) is a rarity per se, this black dial with the cherry red ‘DAYTONA’ arching over the lower subdial is extraordinarily rare.
Original case is never polished, and rich with patina, 14k gold with dimensions of 38mm diameter by 13.5mm thick. Original 14k gold bezel has a razor sharp edge and still glossy black bezel insert with Units Per Hour scale from ‘50’ to ‘200’. Screw down crown and round pump style chronograph pushers are original and working properly.
Original untouched and stunning black dial, with contrasting champagne subdials, and Cherry Red “Daytona”. Original hands. Original luminous.
Original movement is the manual winding Rolex Caliber 727 with 17 jewels and adjusted to three positions. The caliber features column wheel construction and is clean and running. Chronograph resets crisply and accurately to the zero positions.
Rolex 14k riveted Oyster bracelet which is, like the watch, in mint/mint+ condition.
