Sure, a Rolex 1601 Datejust is fairly common but not this one. Retailed by Serpico Y Laino, a famous jeweler and it was Caraca’s first authorized Rolex dealer. Founded by two Italian immigrants in Venezuela at the start of the Second World War, Mr. Laino negotiated sole rights to distribute Rolex watches in Venezuela. The company of Serpico Y Laino lasted until 1966 until things changed in Venezuela making it unsafe to carry on.
Original 36mm stainless steel and 18k yellow gold case with raised plastic crystal. Original 18k gold fluted bezel and screw down crown all working perfectly.
Silver pie-pan dial that is ever so slightly starting to patina to a light champagne color. Applied gold hour markers and golden arrowed hands. Date window at the 3 o’clock position.
Movement is the original Rolex Caliber 1570 with 26 jewels. Adjusted to temperature at 5 positions. C.O.S.C certified chronometer.
