This is an incredibly nice vintage “Red” Submariner Cartier reference 1680. For an extremely short amount of time, Rolex watches were available for sale at Cartier. Some of these watches featured a “Cartier” stamp on the dial. This is more commonly seen with Tiffany and Co, but very rarely seen with Cartier. This watch is rare and highly collectable.
Original unpolished stainless steel case measures 40mm diameter and is approx 14mm thick. Original bezel turns smoothly and Crystal is acrylic. Case is in mint condition with little signs of wear. Cartier numbers can be found engraved on the back of the lower left lug. Serial number 3061XXX dates production to 1980.
Original mat black dial is in perfect condition and has the red “Submariner” which is so attractive to collectors, but even more so is the “Cartier” stamped in white. Date display is at 3 o’clock. Original hands have a marvelous patina to them.
Original automatic winding Rolex Caliber 1570 with 26 jewels and adjusted to temperature and in 5 positions. This movement is a C.O.S.C. Certified Chronometer.
This watch comes fitted on a Rolex Oyster bracelet with flip lock clasp in mint condition.
