Description

Here is an insanely nice Rolex reference 1680 Red Submariner. First launched at Basel World Fair in 1954, the 1680 was the first model Submariner equipped with a date function. The 1680 Red is easily recognized by collectors as these early examples feature the Submariner name printed in red text. The markers and hands present a nice and even patina. Notice the bezel has taken on a beautiful blue color to it that is just remarkable. Thick lugs and full metal case presents with an over the top nice wearable and investable watch.

Original stainless steel is in exceptional condition and measures 40mm in diameter and is approx 15mm thick. High sitting original plastic crystal with Cyclops lens over the date window. Screw-down crown operates as it should to prevent any water intrusion.  Serial number 3388XXX dates the production of this watch to 1973.

Original untouched matte black mark IV dial is in mint condition. As mentioned before, the markers and hands present a pleasant and even patina. Date window featured at 3 o’clock.

Movement for this watch is the original automatic winding Rolex Caliber 1570 with 26 jewels, adjusted to temperature and 5 positions. This movement is a C.O.S.C. Certified Chronometer.

This watch is in mint condition and comes complete with original box and papers.
