The Rolex ref 6062 is as rare as they come. One of the very select few Rolex models that features a moonphase. Introduced in 1950, it was the first automatic triple calendar moonphase piece that was in a waterproof case. The similar 8171 was not waterproof.
18k gold case measures 36mm in diameter. Screw down crown. Curved lugs. Bezel is fixed. Screw down caseback. Crystal is Acrylic.
Exceedingly rare original black star dial. Only a handful of these were produced. Watch is signed. Gold star shaped and dagger hour markers. The gold stars even have a small luminous dot in the heart of the star. Gold dauphine style hands with thin luminous inserts. Moonphase at the 6 o’clock position.
Movement is the Rolex automatic T, 9 ¾ with 19 jewels. Rhodium plated, straight-line lever escapement and monometallic balance. Shock absorber and self compensating Breguet balance spring and index regulator.
