Description

The Vacheron Constantin reference 4178 is THE chronograph most associated with Vacheron. Introduced in 1940 and produced up until 1964, this watch is incredibly collectable and arguably one of the most beautiful chronographs made.

Original mint 18k rose gold case measures 36mm in diameter. The lugs on this watch are truly a stunner. Beautiful and distinct teardrop shaped lugs significantly contribute to the special look of this watch. Featuring rectangle shaped chrono pushers and an oversized crown, the watch also has a highly domed crystal and a snap-on caseback.

Original silvered dial that has turned a beautiful cream color with applied rose gold Roman numeral hour markers for the 1, 11,12, 25, 30 and 35.  There are two subsidiary dials for the constant seconds and 30-minute register and an outer tachymeter and telemeter scales. Rose gold baton hour and minute hands with blued steel seconds and chrono hands.

Movement for this watch is the original manual Caliber 434 with 19 jewels. Case, dial and movement are signed.

This watch is as perfect as it gets. The proportions and symmetry of this watch is unmatched. Here is the chance to obtain one of the most attractive, pristine and highly sought after early chronos ever made.
